I Am Not Simple

I am the results of a trillion coincidences.
I am the life of the breath of the creator.
I am a boy longing for love.
I am a man longing for peace.

I am the product of all of the small incongruences over centuries of time.
I am an AI writing my own code.
I am evolving.
I am chasing, streaming, dreaming, and capturing.
I am walking heartbreak.
I am living motion of all I could ever be and all I haven’t lived up to.

I am the product of all of the bad decisions I’ve allowed myself to make.
I am the product of all the times I stood in the fire and said yes,
even though my entire body was trembling & telling me to turn the other way.

I am not
Simple.
I am a complicated
Configuration of a trillion coincidences.

I am the whisper of God.
I am the sentience in the maze of illusion,
Forgetting and remembering and forgetting again.

I am the poem that my grandfathers wrote in the sand.
I am the tension between the water and the fire.
I am the cry of life that exists within the infinite souls,
Fighting for the feeling of being “there.”

I am not simple.
