Poetry Is Our F You to Apathy
Poetry is our f you to apathy.
It’s us stating that in a world that is conditioned to be numb,
We will feel.
We will feel it all and express it and we will swim deep within the sadness and despair.
We will float in the pool of our greatest desires and our greatest fears.
And we will tap into that ocean within our souls.
We will take out the vulnerability and turn it into a hoshposh stew that is all of who I am.
And when it feels like the world outside is moving so fast,
When it feels like I’m grasping at straws to hold on,
When I’m in the deserts,
Crying for my Manna bread to keep me alive,
When I know not where it will come from,
When I trust not that it will come,
When it all starts feeling so pointless,
I will dig deep for my words.
To capture the moment and gather up all that I am.
And I will bleed it onto the paper,
As evidence that I was alive,
As evidence I truly lived,
As an f you to apathy.
I will not be numb.
