Time

Time moves gently by like a ship slowly passing on the sea.

And like being suddenly

Jarred awake from a dream,

A new world emerges.

The remnants of the past are just bleeding memories now,

Distant thoughts and a fleeting feeling of what was.

Everything is suddenly new,

A new chapter emerges,

And in my heart, it aches for all that was,

The beauty of those moments,

The fly in amber…

How did we get here?

And I question in my heart of hearts,

Did I ever truly appreciate what was?

Did I ever really fully realize how utterly blessed I was in those moments?

The beauty of it all lies in the ephemeral nature of it all.

Nothing lasts forever.

Not even the moon and stars and sun.

And here we are at an eclipse within our own lives,

As it shifts and morphs and transforms under our feet,

I cry out for what was,

But all that answers me is a distant memory and standstill photos of moments in time that have dissipated away.

And I am older now.

Wiser.

Am I more jaded? Or more hopeful?

More established?

More educated?

A new chapter emerges and I cry out for the life that was.

Not needing to go back,

But for feeling all that was.

For this new chapter will be beautiful and will bring so much — and it too one day will dissipate away.

Am I stuck in Groundhog Day?

Another chapter of non-appreciation and longing when it’s gone?

My heart aches with sadness,

And I know that the sadness is just the leftover remnants of the beauty that we were able to create

Together.

And I cry out from my heart,

And it breaks and I break,

And I become a puddle on the floor

Full of all of the colors that is the essence of my being,

And I pray that the poem that I am leaves an imprint on this who I contact,

Spiritualizing the world,

Spiritualizing the world.

Who do I get to be,

So that wherever I go,

I am the source of a deep remembering of who we truly are?

Walking remembrance of the ephemeral nature of it all —

A walking knowing with a smile at this poem we get to create

Together.

And the thunder claps and the lightning paints strokes across the sky.

And the untimely deaths of idles give us something to talk about,

But deep down we believe it won’t be us.

It won’t be us.

And we keep living a life,

With blinders up,

Peacefully and blissfully unaware of our own demise.

Wake up!!

I yell

Wake up!!

To who you truly are!!

To the poem that lives inside of you,

Wake up please...

Don’t let the story of your life die inside of you,

Wake up, please, I yell.

Do these words on this page yell to you?

Does this time capsule tell you the truth of it all?

Wake up, please.

And my heart breaks and cries from the beauty of it all.

And the end is just a punctuation point in this long dance we all get to do

Together.

And I’m just a puddle now in a passing day.

My words are left for another to find,

To spark a glimmering of memory and hope and feeling,

And to create a shift or be merely forgotten.

But I yell on these pages,

Just to prove I was really alive.

I was really here.

I really felt.

And at times,

I was walking heartbreak.
